1/35 Panther II German Experimental Tank – Amusing Hobby 35A018

The Amusing Hobby 1/35 Panther II German Experimental Tank (35A018) brings to life one of the most intriguing late‑war armored development projects of WWII. Intended as an improved successor to the Panther Ausf. G, the Panther II featured heavier armor, simplified construction, and compatibility with the Schmalturm turret concept. Although only a single incomplete prototype hull was produced before the war ended, the Panther II remains a favorite among modelers for its blend of historical authenticity and “what‑might‑have‑been” engineering.

The Panther II project aimed to address battlefield shortcomings by increasing protection, standardizing components with the Tiger II, and preparing for future turret upgrades. Its unique place in German armored development—straddling real engineering and unfinished wartime innovation—makes it a compelling subject for builders.

Amusing Hobby’s kit captures the Panther II’s distinctive features with:

• Highly detailed upper and lower hull with correct Panther II armor layout

• Accurate representation of the Schmalturm‑style turret

• Detailed 75mm KwK 42 L/70 gun assembly

• Crisp molding and sharp surface textures

• Link‑and‑length tracks for realistic sag and easy assembly

• Well‑engineered parts for a smooth, frustration‑free build

• Ideal platform for late‑war camouflage, speculative finishes, and diorama scenes

Whether you’re building a historically grounded prototype or exploring alternate‑history possibilities, the Panther II offers a rewarding and visually striking addition to any German armor collection.
