The Amusing Hobby 1/35 Panther II Rheinmetall Turret (35A040) brings to life one of the most intriguing experimental tank concepts from late‑war German armored development. The Panther II program aimed to improve the Panther series with heavier armor, standardized components, and compatibility with new turret designs. Among the proposed upgrades was the Rheinmetall turret, an alternative to the better‑known Schmalturm concept.
Although the Panther II project never progressed beyond a single incomplete hull, the Rheinmetall turret proposal represents a fascinating “what‑if” branch of German engineering—combining advanced optics, improved ballistic shaping, and the powerful 75mm KwK 42 L/70 gun. This makes the subject especially appealing to modelers who enjoy prototype vehicles, experimental designs, and alternate‑history builds.
Amusing Hobby’s kit captures the unique look and engineering of this rare concept with:
Highly detailed Panther II hull with correct late‑war armor layout
Accurate Rheinmetall turret with crisp surface detail
Detailed 75mm KwK 42 L/70 gun assembly
Link‑and‑length tracks for realistic sag and easy assembly
Clean molding and excellent fit for a smooth build
Sharp panel lines and surface textures ideal for weathering
Perfect for late‑war camouflage, speculative finishes, and diorama scenes
Whether you’re building a historically grounded prototype or exploring alternate‑history possibilities, the Panther II with Rheinmetall turret offers a visually striking and rewarding modeling experience.
