The Amusing Hobby 1/35 VK3002(DB) German Experimental Tank (35A002) recreates one of the most important—and often overlooked—prototype designs of WWII. Developed by Daimler‑Benz as a competitor to MAN’s proposal, the VK3002(DB) was part of Germany’s effort to create a new medium tank capable of countering the Soviet T‑34. Its sloped armor, compact hull, and turret placement clearly show the influence of the T‑34’s battlefield performance.
Although the MAN design ultimately won and became the famous Panther, the VK3002(DB) remains a fascinating “what‑might‑have‑been” vehicle. Its unique layout, engineering concepts, and historical significance make it a favorite among modelers who enjoy prototype armor and alternate‑history builds.
Amusing Hobby’s kit captures the VK3002(DB)’s distinctive features with:
Highly detailed hull with T‑34‑inspired sloped armor
Accurate Daimler‑Benz turret design
Detailed 75mm KwK 42 L/70 main gun assembly
Crisp molding and sharp surface textures
Link‑and‑length tracks for realistic sag and easy assembly
Clean part fit and smart engineering for a smooth build
Ideal for mid‑war camouflage, prototype finishes, or speculative “what‑if” schemes
Whether you’re building a historically grounded prototype or exploring alternate‑history scenarios, the VK3002(DB) offers a rewarding and visually striking addition to any German armor collection.
