1/35 Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer Late Version - Airfix A1353

The Airfix A1353 1/35 Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer Late Version is a premium 1/35 scale plastic model kit from Airfix, the UK's oldest and most iconic model kit manufacturer, established in 1952.

The Jagdpanzer 38(t) — later popularly known as the Hetzer, meaning 'baiter' — was one of the most successful German tank destroyers of the Second World War. Built on a modified Czechoslovakian Panzer 38(t) chassis at the Škoda and BMM factories in Prague, the Hetzer combined a powerful 7.5cm Pak 39 L/48 gun with well-sloped 60mm frontal armor in an extremely compact and low-profile hull that was difficult to detect and hit. Production began in April 1944 and the vehicle quickly proved itself across all fronts — its small size, sloped armor, and reliable Czech chassis made it one of the most cost-effective tank destroyers Germany produced. The Late Version featured a number of production improvements including a remote-controlled machine gun mount on the roof, a revised gun mantlet, and detail changes to the running gear and vision equipment. The Hetzer served in large numbers until the end of the war with German, and briefly, Bulgarian forces, and remained in service with the Swiss and Czechoslovak armies into the 1970s under the designation G-13.
