1/35 Schwimmwagen Trippel SG 6/38 – DAS WERK DW35012

The Das Werk DW35012 1/35 Schwimmwagen Trippel SG 6/38 is a premium 1/35 scale plastic model kit from Das Werk, the German manufacturer known for releasing highly accurate kits of unusual, rare, and specialist German military vehicles that other manufacturers rarely tackle.

The Trippel SG 6/38 (Schwimmfähiger Geländewagen 6) was the lesser-known German amphibious vehicle of the Second World War — a contemporary of the far more famous Volkswagen Schwimmwagen but produced in smaller numbers by the Trippelwerke company of Molsheim, Alsace. Unlike the Volkswagen Type 166 which used a conventional car drivetrain, the Trippel SG 6 featured a more sophisticated amphibious design with a hull designed from the outset for water propulsion, using a rear-mounted propeller driven directly from the engine. The vehicle was used by German military and SS units for reconnaissance and liaison duties in areas where water crossing capability was essential, and served on the Eastern Front, in occupied France, and elsewhere. The SG 6/38 represents one of the most unusual and least-modelled German WWII vehicles — a Das Werk specialty — produced with the same exceptional precision the company brings to all their unusual German subject kits.
