1/350 Russian Navy Yasen Class SSN - HOBBY BOSS 83526

The Hobby Boss 83526 1/350 Russian Navy Yasen Class SSN (Severodvinsk Class) is a detailed injection-molded plastic model kit representing Russia's most advanced nuclear attack submarine — the formidable Project 885 Yasen class.

The Yasen class (Project 885 "Ясень" — Russian for "ash tree"), also designated the Severodvinsk class after the lead boat K-329 Severodvinsk, is Russia's most advanced nuclear-powered multipurpose attack submarine. Development began in the late Soviet era and construction on the lead boat started on 21 December 1993, though budgetary collapse after the Soviet dissolution meant she was not commissioned until 2014 — over two decades in building. The Yasen class is designed to replace both the Akula-class attack submarines and the Oscar II-class cruise missile submarines, combining the roles of both in a single highly capable platform. Armed with eight vertical launch tubes for Kalibr cruise missiles or Onyx anti-ship missiles and six 533mm torpedo tubes, the Yasen class represents a quantum leap in Russian submarine capability. The hull form is derived from both the Akula and Alfa-class submarines, incorporating advanced sound-dampening technologies that make these boats significantly quieter than their predecessors. The improved Yasen-M (Project 885M) variant, with a shorter but more capable hull, entered serial production and multiple boats are now in service or under construction for the Russian Northern and Pacific fleets. The class has attracted significant Western intelligence attention as one of the most capable attack submarines currently in service anywhere in the world.
