1/200 Model kit- USS Hornet CV-8 - I LOVE KIT Ilk 62001

The I Love Kit 62001 1/200 USS Hornet CV-8 Aircraft Carrier is a premium large-format injection-molded plastic ship model kit from I Love Kit (ILK), the manufacturer celebrated for its extraordinary large-scale naval subjects that push the boundaries of what is possible in injection-molded ship modelling.

USS Hornet (CV-8) was a Yorktown-class aircraft carrier of the United States Navy, commissioned on 20 October 1941 — just weeks before Pearl Harbor brought America into WWII. She is perhaps best known as the ship from which Lieutenant Colonel James H. Doolittle's B-25 Mitchell bombers launched the famous Doolittle Raid on Tokyo on 18 April 1942 — the first air attack on the Japanese home islands and a crucial morale boost for a nation still reeling from Pearl Harbor. Hornet then participated in the pivotal Battle of Midway in June 1942, where US carrier aviation destroyed four Japanese fleet carriers. Her career ended at the Battle of Santa Cruz Islands on 26 October 1942, when she was struck by Japanese aircraft and, after sustaining catastrophic damage, was scuttled by American destroyers — making her the last US fleet carrier to be sunk by enemy action in WWII. This I Love Kit 1/200 giant model captures Hornet in her wartime configuration with extraordinary detail, including a fully detailed hangar deck visible through a clear carrier deck, one-piece injection-moulded hull over 1,239mm long, and five F4F-4 Wildcat aircraft.
