The Škoda 100mm vz. 14 Howitzer was developed by the Škoda Works of Pilsen for the Austro-Hungarian Army and entered service in 1914;seeing extensive use on all fronts of World War I. Following the dissolution of Austria-Hungary in 1918;the newly independent Czechoslovakia continued and modernized production as the vz. 14/19;exporting the type widely to Poland;Italy;Hungary;Yugoslavia;and Greece. By September 1939 the howitzer was still in frontline Polish artillery service;where it fought during the defense of Poland. Italian forces used it across all their WWII theaters — North Africa;the Eastern Front;and Italy itself. Germany pressed captured examples into Wehrmacht service under the designations leFH 14/19(t) (Czech origin);leFH 14/19(i) (Italian);and leFH 14/19(p) (Polish);further extending its operational life into the mid-war period.
