The IBG 1/35 TKS Tankette with 20mm Gun (IBG 35046) depicts the rare up-gunned version of Poland's TKS tankette, re-armed with the NKM wz.38 FK-A 20mm autocannon just before the outbreak of the Second World War.
The TKS was a Polish light reconnaissance tankette developed in the 1930s from the earlier TK-3 design, with improvements including modified frontal armor, a new engine, thicker armor plates, an improved drive train, and a commander's periscope. Serial production began in 1934, and a total of 280 were built.
This Polish-designed 20mm gun proved highly effective against German tanks during the September 1939 invasion, but only 23 up-gunned TKS tankettes reached the front line before the campaign ended. One of them was crewed by Polish tank ace Edmund Roman Orlik, credited with destroying 13 German tanks during the fighting.
