The Summer NNL – A Celebration Without Judging

Date: August 2, 2026
Location: Crystal Lake, Illinois

The Summer NNL returns to Crystal Lake, Illinois on August 2, offering a refreshing alternative to competitive contests. Unlike traditional shows, NNL (National NNL-style) events focus on sharing and celebrating models rather than judging them.

Participants bring their latest work to display in a relaxed environment where creativity takes center stage. Automotive subjects are often heavily represented, but all genres—from aircraft to sci-fi—are welcome.

The informal nature of the Summer NNL encourages conversation, making it an ideal venue for exchanging ideas, techniques, and inspiration. Builders can receive feedback in a collaborative setting rather than a competitive one.

For Midwest hobbyists, this event provides a unique and highly enjoyable experience that emphasizes the social and creative aspects of scale modeling. [ipmsusa.org]
